Experienced Technical Motor Claims Handler

U-Drive are recruiting for an experienced and detail-oriented technical motor claims handler with strong commercial awareness and working knowledge of motor case law to join a close-knit team focused on the Accident and Risk Management claims for our fleet of 4000 vehicles.  

About the Role

Our Accident and Risk Management team are critical to the processing of incidents pertaining to our mixed fleet.

This is a newly created role with an opportunity for you to establish and define good working practices. Initially managing non-fault incident recoveries with third party representatives for incidents occurring on our self-drive hire and motor trade fleets, it is expected this will evolve to incorporate the management and mitigation of costs for fault incidents. Experience of investigating incident circumstances, correctly establishing liability and negotiating credit hire and total loss settlements, in addition to a sound knowledge of motor case law is therefore essential. You will also assist the Accident & Risk Management team with day-to-day responsibilities which include but are not restricted to obtaining insurance documentation from customers, creating new claim records, repair management, fielding calls and general administration.

At U-Drive our emphasis is on quality and mitigating risk through attention to detail. You will be working a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday.

Core Responsibilities

  • Case management of existing and new incidents
  • Investigating incident circumstances and establishing liability
  • Knowing when to pursue a third party or to provide services to them
  • Seek recovery from ‘at fault’ third party drivers
  • Oversight of credit hire negotiation
  • Third party total loss negotiation
  • Working alongside external claims company, motor engineers and third-party insurers in dealing with pre-litigation claims. No involvement in personal injury claims

Requirements

About You

Successful candidates should demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • You will have demonstrable negotiation skills and a working knowledge of motor claims case law
  • You will have a good understanding of risk and allocating fault, in a motor insurance capacity
  • You will be a strong communicator, both aurally and written
  • You will have exceptional attention to detail, understanding this is of paramount importance when assessing claims and collating all appropriate information
  • You will be well-organised and able to work independently as well as take on team responsibilities as needed
  • You will be comfortable with learning and using operating software and have good Microsoft office skills
