Meet Callum, our Trainee Accounts Assistant:

How long have you worked at U-Drive?

3 years.

Tell us about your apprenticeship.

I joined U-Drive in June 2021 as the new Apprentice Accounts Assistant.

During the apprenticeship I faced many challenges that come with working within a business, such as assisting in the preparation of monthly and yearly accounts. This gave me valuable experience whilst I studied towards the AAT Level 3 qualification at the Bournemouth and Poole College.

Since passing the apprenticeship, I have been given the opportunity to progress onto the AAT Level 4 course with support from U-Drive.

What is your team like to work with?

My colleagues within the finance department are incredibly supportive, always offering a helping hand where needed. Also, the banter between everyone in the office generates a fun and positive atmosphere making work more enjoyable.

Which part of your role do you enjoy the most?

I often do project work for our Head of Finance. The latest project I completed was the integration of our accounts system with Excel to produce automated departmental accounts. I particularly enjoyed this as Excel is my area of expertise and I find interest in learning how I can incorporate complex functions within Excel.

What are your career aspirations for the future.

I hope to become a Finance Manager/Director. As such, I am determined to become a Charted Accountant within the foreseeable future with the objective of starting the ACCA degree shortly after completion of the AAT Level 4 qualification.

What do you like most about working for U-Drive?

I’d say what I like most about working for U-Drive is definitely the culture. There’s a fantastic mix of teamwork and positivity that makes coming to work genuinely enjoyable. The vibe here is not just about getting the job done; it’s about doing it together and supporting each other along the way.
